Training

Here at Our Ranch we specialize in starting horses and colts.  We get them ready to go in any direction, whether it be English or Western. We use a soft touch and an ALL positive reinforcement program with which to train them. Establishing a level of trust and respect with the horse on the ground is our first step. Then when the time is right, we slowly start to introduce the saddle and bridle.  These can be very scary objects to a young horse or a horse that has never seen one before, that is why we never rush the young horse's mind thus allowing the horse to analyze the situation and let him know it's OK.  Our method usually takes about 40 days, give or take, depending on your horse, to get the basic foundation down.  The next step is riding~ and that is usually the easy part once you and the horse trust each other~ at this point the horse allows us to take them, do and go anywhere.  After some fine tuning and repetitive foundation and riding lessons, your horse will be ready to begin the career that he was bred for!
